Bio

A fullstack engineer, with considerable amount of experience (10+ years). I always put the customer first, having the ability to communicate thoroughly and clearly with my clients, Product Managers and Designers during all stages of a software development project so that each stage proceeds smoothly and to write efficient code. Having studied Computer Science Bachelor’s and attained almost a decade of web development and programming experience and with great communication skills including high English proficiency in reading, writing and speaking, native and Official Language level, I believe I could bring a lot to the table.

I have mastered several technologies, including Laravel and ones which are not Laravel but either complement it or are equivalent to it and have the ability to learn new ones very quickly in a matter of relatively short time whenever needed. I teach online, contribute to open-source projects and write articles for successful publications to show how to create a range of solutions like embeddable widgets, sliders, drag and drop widgets, chat systems, login and file upload forms. These are coupled with backend APIs to achieve the required functionalities.

I am a very enthusiastic self-motivator requiring little assistance to carry out daily tasks, but I am privy to the fact that extra assistance is sometimes needed occasionally so as not to delay projects and deliver them on time. I have led small teams or individuals during various times of my career and conducted interviews and code reviews. I aspire to and like to write clean, maintainable, efficient, well-documented, standardised and testable code, but also aware that sometimes it is necessary to get the Job done in the shortest time and come back to cleanup when the business requires it, but I strive to avoid any technical debt whenever possible. I like working and collaborating within a team, but perfectly comfortable taking individual ownership of a project from planning, design, implementation, testing and deployment.

I have worked in several multi-cultural environments over the years in remote positions. It has allowed me to work well with a team and independently very well with minimal guidance. Previously, I have created multi-lingual websites using i18n (internationalisation) to support several locales. Also, I had previous experience to optimise code so that daily cron report creation runs faster by minimising the number of databases calls the Laravel code was making, while working with millions of rows of customer data. This was challenging as we also had to be careful of not fetching too much data at once so as not to consume too much memory at the same time.

With my vast array of technology knowledge, I could not only build projects that work, but could also advice (if needed) when asked which technology to use in a given project with confidence, and provide pros and cons to the best of my ability. In addition, I am always welcoming feedback so as to continuously improve.
